Old Kona Airport
A lively, historic Hawaii location with covered pavilions and a white sand beach
A Local Kona Treasure
Often overlooked as a wedding location, the Old Kona Airport is a thrilling venue for history buffs and those expecting a dramatic view for their wedding photos. Beyond the old terminal building that is now a public pavilion, the white sand beach features an idyllic shaded palm grove with a spectacular view of the ocean. Popular with locals celebrating milestones, the pavilions of Old A are available to rent for a relatively low cost which is great insurance in the case of rain. Alcohol is permitted on the premises, and we will happily provide a catered dinner as part of your wedding package.
Step into Hawaiian History as You Meet Your Future
Originally a landing strip built during WWII, the first airport in Kona offers a connection to Hawaii’s history and those who first flew to the state through this airport over half a century ago. Briefly used as a drag racing track before the state park’s founding in 1976, the airport’s original 3,800 foot runway now serves as an access road and provides ample parking for the park. This venue offers a perfect blend of historical significance and contemporary Hawaiian life as you greet the first day of your future.
Important Notes About Old Airport
Minutes from downtown Kona, this park is quite popular and can be crowded on weekends. The location is very accessible with plenty of parking, but unfortunately it is not possible to rent the entire venue for a private event. It can become quite hot at this venue, but shading is abundant throughout the area.
