Holoholokai

A rugged natural landscape boasting plenty of conveniences

NO PERMITS AVAILABLE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

A Remote, Rustic Setting

Couples seeking to stand in an untamed landscape to take their vows should look no further than Holoholokai. This remote beach lies to the north of the more popular and crowded beaches on the Big Island, while still being convenient to the Fairmont Orchid. The white sand is punctuated by black lava flows near the water’s edge and framed by dense brush at the top. Ancient trees lean into the brisk ocean breeze, as twists of driftwood wash up on the shore.

Ceremony And Reception In One Location

For all its ruggedness, Holoholokai is not without conveniences. Public parking is plentiful, and there are clean restrooms onsite. There is a lush lawn at the top of the beach where a catered dinner reception can be served after the ceremony. There are few beach locations on the Big Island where it is possible to host an outdoor catered reception so near to where the ceremony was held; this is a truly unique feature of this special place. Holoholokai offers all the visual drama of a wild, natural landscape while also providing the ideal elements of an enjoyable, comfortable celebration.

Important Notes About Holoholokai

The terrain of this beach is rocky, making practical footwear a must. We do not recommend this beach for couples planning to go barefoot during their wedding ceremony, or for those who have difficulty walking. The terrain also prevents setting up chairs, however beach cushions may be brought in to provide comfortable seating for your guests. If you are opting to have dinner on the lawn after the ceremony, be sure to schedule your start time early enough that you can have everything off the beach when it closes (30 minutes after sundown).
